Mr. Jack Newton, 81, of 6321 Glenn Road, Lake Park, died Friday, December 14, 2018, at his home, following a sudden illness.
Memorial Services will be held 1:30 pm, Saturday December 22, 2018, at Sardis Baptist Church, with Rev. Stanley Luke officiating.
Mr. Newton was born September 10, 1937, in Chatham County, North Carolina, a son of the late Jack and Lou Adcock Newton. He attended Davis Townsend High School, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1956-1960. He was a well-known and respected electrician, who was always willing to lend a hand to assist someone with a project, and could be found working on various projects at his home. On September 26, 1959, he was married to Doris Corbett, the love of his life, who died on June 11, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Walter, William, Bud Calvin, Wallace, Bob, and David Newton, and his sisters, Nannie Newton Hunt and Magalene Newton Sweatt. He was active in several churches in the area, having last attended Sardis Baptist Church in Statenville.
He is survived by two sons, Barry Newton of Lake Park and Britt Newton of Gainesville, Florida; one sister, Beulah Porter of Durham, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
