Anthony “Tony” Barron, 63, of Tifton passed away peacefully Friday, April 24, 2020 at his home.
A private service was held just after sunrise Friday, May 1, 2020, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in
Tifton, GA. He was buried next to his sister, Forestine (Barron) Graham, and brother, Michael
Barron, who preceded him in death.
Born December 13, 1956 in Tifton, GA, Anthony was the son of the late Ralph Hester and Marie
B. Thomas of Tifton, Georgia. He was a 1975 graduate of Tift County High School. He received
the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) certificates through California State University,
Sacramento School of Engineering in the Operations and Maintenance of Wastewater
Collection Systems in 1992 and 1994. Anthony was employed as a Heavy Equipment/Sewer Jet
Operator with the City of Tifton’s Water Department for 25 years until his retirement in 2000.
Anthony enjoyed every sport, especially skating, bowling, billiards, and tennis. He was known to
keep roller skates, a bowling bag, pool sticks, and a tennis racket in his truck toolbox for
whenever the occasion arose to have fun. Anthony was an exceptional handyman. If he was not
watching his favorite westerns, he would spend time repairing and building things in his tool
shed. He was an avid collector of antiques and historical items. Anthony was an active member
of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses – West Congregation in Tifton, Georgia.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Loreaner (Littleton) Barron of Tifton, Georgia, his sons Kreston
Barron of Atlanta, Georgia and Kason (Candace) Barron of Cobb County, Georgia; his grandsons Khyland
Barron and Channang Barron of Cobb County, Georgia; his mother, Marie B. Thomas of Tifton,
Georgia; his brothers, Ronald Barron, Darrell Barron, Donnie Hester, all of Tifton, Georgia,
Lawrence Barron of Atlanta, Georgia, and Ronnie Hester of Palm Bay, Florida; his sisters, Shelia
Barron and Beverly McClain, both of Tifton, Georgia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his sister Forestine (Barron) Graham, and his
brothers, Michael Barron and Eddie Lee Tumbling, Sr., all of Tifton, Georgia.
Anthony was beloved by his friends and family for his warm heart and caring nature. He loved
animals and lived to make others smile and laugh.
