Anthony Aster “Tony” McKee, 54 of Hazlehurst died Wednesday, November 16, 2021, at Jeff Davis Hospital after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Tony was holding his sister’s hand as he left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Reflection Cremation and Funeral Service on 12th Street in Tifton, GA. The family will receive friends before the memorial from 1:00 until 1:30 also at Reflection Cremation and Funeral Service.
Tony was born in Cocoa, FL on August 22, 1967, and raised in Tifton, GA. He graduated from Tift County High School in 1986. In those days you could find Tony playing the trumpet in the band, flipping burgers at Burger King, or cruising the mall in his Nissan 280z. Tony was an avid outdoorsman. Before limits were imposed, Tony came home from Keaton Beach with a cooler full of reds and trout just about every weekend. On weekdays he worked at Shaw Industries and enjoyed time with his children. After Tifton’s Shaw Industries closed, Tony went to work for Walmart Distribution in Douglas. Tony always loved to explore the woods, especially after moving to Hazlehurst. He was a highly skilled marksman and archer. After finding out he had cancer, all Tony wanted to know is will I be finished with chemo and radiation by hunting season. And he did get to hunt again for a short while after his treatment.
He is preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray McKee, Jr. His mother is Lois Jean Badore McKee Calhoun. Tony is survived by son, Austin McKee of Savannah; daughter, DeAnna McKee of Hazlehurst; son, Aaron McKee also of Hazlehurst, a bonus son, Gage (Kelly) Thompson of St. Mary’s, and a grandson, DeAnna’s son Grayson Futch. He is survived by a younger brother, Billy Ray “Trae” McKee, III and an older sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Paul Robertson. Tony is also survived by a favorite uncle and aunt, Henry and Linda Badore and cousins Eddie Badore and Colleen Badore Gates all of Cocoa, FL.
