Christine (Mercer) Martin

Mrs. Christine (Chris) Mercer Martin of Albany Ga, died Thursday February 2, 2023, at her sister’s home in Leesburg surrounded by her family.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday February 11, 2023 at Albany Grace Church of the Nazarene, Eulogies will be given by Pastor Ike Branch.

Chris was born March 9, 1953 in Jackson, Ohio to the late Orville Mercer Jr. and Margaret Longlott Mercer.  After getting her GED, she went to work at Palmyra Park Hospital in Albany Ga. She started out in the kitchen area where she worked her way up to Dietitian.

Mrs. Christine went to Albany Grace Church of the Nazarene for awhile before joining in March 1998. She was very much involved especially with the young children. There wouldn’t be a Wednesday, or Sunday morning or night that she wouldn’t have at least 2-3 children beside her. She rarely missed a service until her health started to decline.   

Survivors include her son Shawn Mercer of St. Augustine Florida, a daughter Breanna Mercer of Albany Ga, three sisters Sandy Reilly of Albany Ga, Beverly Vinson of Coolidge Ga, and Vicki Lightfoot of Leesburg Ga., one brother George A. Fassler of Albany Ga, three grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Chris loved life and it showed. She liked to crochet, read, watch TV, and spend time with her kids as well as others. She loved her family; Family always mattered to her. One thing for sure Chris was always there for anyone that needed her.
