Mr. Herbert Roy O’Boyle, age 81, formerly of Worth County, passed away June 7, 2021, after a lengthy illness. Mr. O’Boyle was born in Lochgelly, West Virginia, on October 26, 1939, to the late Sylvester & Virginia Rhodes O’Boyle. Upon graduation from high school, Mr. O’Boyle joined the United States Army & was stationed in Germany. After his service in the Army, he worked as a long-haul truck driver for many years traveling along the eastern United States. Mr. O’Boyle lived in Worth County for the last 27 years. He retired from Worth County Public Works as shop supervisor. He was an active volunteer fireman for the Worth County Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed fishing & was an avid Nascar fan. Most of all, he loved the Lord & his family. He served as an elder at Unity Baptist Church in Sylvester.
Mr. O’Boyle is survived by his wife, Glennis Walker O’Boyle; one son, Charles (Sherry) Land; one daughter, Jane Land (John) Grimsley, all of Worth County; along with two grandchildren, Meri Beth (Nick) Arbogast of Memphis, Indiana & Savannah (Ben) Lewis of Fernandina Beach, Florida; two great grandchildren, Naomi Arbogast & another Arbogast due near Mr. O’Boyle’s birthday; two sisters, Daisy Shrout of Oak Hill, West Virginia, & Connie (Ed) Porter of Rockledge, Florida; one brother, George (Sue) O’Boyle of Albany, Georgia.
Mr. O’Boyle is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Deanna Beach, & one granddaughter, Anna Houston.
A memorial service will be held at Unity Baptist Church in Sylvester at 3pm on Saturday, June 26. The family will receive visitors one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Unity Baptist Church Building Fund.
