Poem of Life
Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay...
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.
Ms. Mary Callaghan died at her home on February 23, 2023 after a brief illness. Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law: Kevin & Melanie Callaghan, Brian Callaghan, grandson Tyler Callaghan, sister Barbara Kilcrease all of Valdosta, GA. She was a member of New Harvest United Methodist Church (Formerly Forest Street UMC).
Mary was a single mother that worked long hours and sacrificed her own needs to make sure her sons had food on the table and clothes to wear. She raised her grandson and taught them all how to love by her example. She had several cats and dogs that she enjoyed spending time with and she also liked to plant flowers.
Mary loved to read the Bible and attend church when she was able. After her health started to decline, she would enjoy working on Bible crossword puzzles and word search books.
Her family and friends were her life and she would do what she could to help out someone in need. Mary was a loving mom, grandmother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was also a Christian that loved the Lord and served Him. If you don’t know Jesus as your Savior today, give your life over to Him. For Mary, life here on earth is over, but because she knew the Lord as her Savior, she is in Heaven with Him. DON’T wait until it is too late.
Ecclesiastes 3: 1-2, 4
To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
2 A time to be born, And a time to die;
A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted
4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, And a time to dance
Revelation 21:4
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
We will miss her and our lives were blessed by knowing her. She has gone to a place where she will no longer be in pain and no longer shed tears. She can’t come back here to us but by knowing Jesus we can one day be reunited with her in Heaven. We love you Mom!
