It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Ruth Key, age 69 of Tifton on Monday October 28, 2019 Ruth is survived by so many who deeply loved her, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and siblings. Ruth was so kind and loving, always had the best sense of humor. She was an avid thrift shopper, every time you came for a visit, she had a new treasure to share with you. Antiques were her favorite, ivory dollies and vintage quilts were everywhere. She loved being creative in her home and with her art, but never with her cooking. She could serve up a mean bowl of corn flakes! Her favorite food was a Hershey bar with almonds
The sobering truth is, all the love and support in the world can’t cure addiction. I the end addiction is what stole Ruth from her family. No more pool days, no more inside jokes. The joy and light in her eyes were dimmed by her addiction.
We ask that without judgment, you realize addiction does not discriminate. What happened to our mother could happen to anyone, it is time to remove the stigma and shame associated with addiction. Exodus 20:12 states,” Honor thy father and thy mother’ it is very important that we honor her and her memory. If sharing her story can save a life from addiction or inspire someone to reach out for a helping hand and began the road to recovery, we can think of no greater way to honor Mom’s memory
None of that has changed our love for our Mother. We remember who she was before the cruelty of addition.
If you or someone you love is suffering from addiction, please seek help, with every breath, there is new opportunity.
