Oral Douglas Engle, 74, of Corbin, Kentucky and Tifton, Georgia was surrounded by close family when he passed away peacefully at home on August 14th, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
He was preceded in death by his parents Oral Engle and Sophia Rose Engle of Corbin, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Stella Morgan Engle and daughters MeLisa Engle King and Donna Engle Connolly and husband Chuck Connolly and his grandchildren, Hannah King, Abby King, Makenna Connolly and Tayton Connolly. He is also survived by one sister, Polly Evans and husband David Evans of Danville, Kentucky and many nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members.
Known to most as Doug or O.D., he was a US Army Veteran and retired CSXT locomotive engineer. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing, and he was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching his favorite basketball team the University of Kentucky Wildcats, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
As a Christian, even in illness he remembered and trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved his family and was greatly loved. He will be missed by those who knew him.
