Lifetime member of the Freemasons’, Air Force Veteran, Arthur Murray Dance Studio Instructor, retired General Motors engineer, and much-adored “super cool grandpa” Robert ”Bob” Peek passed peacefully in his sleep at the age of 84 on July 10, 2021, surrounded by beloved family members and people who cared for him immensely.
Love of family, love of country, love of God, These were the foundations of Robert Peek’s life. Son of Roscoe and Lucile Peek and older brother to John Peek, Robert was born in October 1936 in Freemont, Michigan. His love of country led him to join the Air Force where he served his time as an aircraft mechanic. Robert’s time in the Air Force took him to many places, including too Biloxi, Mississippi, and to the Évreux-Fauville Air Base in France during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, Robert began an apprenticeship in the tool & die industry which led him to his career as a tool & die engineer with General Motors, where he worked many years and retired in 2001.
Robert’s tremendous love of family and through his marriage to Jeanne, he acquired a large blended family which consists of 17 grandchildren, whom he absolutely adored. Always the planner, he was forever organizing the next vacation, holiday, or weekend trip with his family, whom he cherished. The hopeless romantic had many interests including attending theater events, playing golf, traveling, going to the movies, and of course…dancing! Robert was a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Dance Studio, and anyone who knew him knew his love for dance and music.
His love for his family has always been clear, and our love for him unwavering. Robert Peek is survived by his five children: Allan Peek, Roger Peek, Kim Eikov, Lisa Peek, and Roberta Peek.
A celebration of life will be planned soon.
