Sherry D (Autry) Smith

July 18, 1956 ~ May 5, 2020 (age 63)

Debra Autry Smith,

63 was born in Newport News, Virginia on

July 18, 1956. She was a cancer survivor,

however, on May 5, 2020, Sherry passed

away due to respiratory illness. A “social

distancing” service will be held at Paulk’s

Cemetery in Norman Park, Georgia on

May 13, 2020 at 10:00 AM. She enjoyed

spending time with friends, family, and

her dog Shadow. She really loved taking

road trips and was guaranteed to get

lost, but that seemed what she loved

most about it. Camping, social drinking,

nature, bird watching, observing and

growing flowers were some more of her

enjoyments. She was a fan of the

Pittsburg Steelers and Willie Nelson.

Sherry was a fun loving people person.

She loved to laugh! She was able to find

something to laugh about in some of the

most difficult times. During her cancer

treatments the staff loved her sense of

humor. Sherry was not shy in letting

someone know how she felt

“emotionally” and would speak her mind.

Whenever distant loved ones came to

visit her or she visited them she cried

when it was time to leave. After being a

long time resident of New Kensington, PA

she moved to Sumner, Georgia after her

Dad’s passing in 2018. It was a difficult

choice as Sherry had family there and

was well known, and acquired lots of very

close friends. She said she felt closer to

her Dad when she was at his place. While

there she continued to maintain one of

Janice’s flower gardens she helped revive

on the property. Sherry spent most of her

days sitting on the screened-in porch.

Early in the mornings watching the sun

rise, observing the beauty of God’s

creations as the day drifted, and retiring

for the evening just as the sun set, the last few months of her life were difficult

but her devoted boyfriend, John was there for her. Due to her outgoing

personality she distanced herself from

friends and family as it had become more

difficult for her to be cheerful and share a

good laugh. Sherry would have rather

excused herself from an event if she

could not help bring life to the gathering.

Sherry will be missed from many friends

and family across several different

states. Sherry leaves behind two

daughters, Audra Rene Smith and

Tabatha Smith, a longtime boyfriend John

Coniglio, and four siblings Edward Lee

Autry, Jr., Albert Ray Autry, and Jeffrey

Clifford Autry, Janet Yvonne Willis. Sherry

was preceded in death by her father,

Edward Lee Autry, Sr., stepmother Janice

Parrish Autry, mother Joyce Howard,

siblings, Gloria Planter, Larry Parrish, and

Robert Dale Parrish.
