Ricky Franklin Obituary Late on the evening of December 19, 2023, Ricky Lee Franklin, 62, passed peacefully from this life into the waiting arms of Jesus in the presence of his daughter and grandsons. He was born on December 9, 1961, in Tifton, GA to the late Morris and Nellie Williams Franklin. Ricky Lee grew up working with his Uncle Lamar and brothers putting his skills as a drywall man to good use throughout South Georgia. Ricky was rarely without his favorite tools: a tape measure and utility knife, but sometimes left his drill in the oddest places. Ricky loved to be outside and often went fishing with his brother, Johnnie, and friends, even losing his phone a time or two in the flats of Northern Florida. Ricky’s unique physical constitution allowed him to live on his favorite foods: ice cream and loaf bread. Ricky Lee is survived by his children, Heather Eskew and husband Matt of Tarzan, TX, Nicole Cobb and husband Matthew of Ty Ty, GA and Travis Jacob Franklin of Tifton, GA. Ricky’s five grandchildren include Monty and Madelyn Eskew, Seth, Eli, and Render Cobb. Ricky loved his brothers and sisters and was comforted by their support and help over the years. Ricky’s siblings who survive him are Deborah Lowery, Johnnie Franklin, and Patricia Flippo. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Junior Franklin and Bobby Franklin but has been reunited with them in Heaven. Although Ricky was not known to have strong religious convictions, in his final days and in the supportive environment of family, friends, and hospice workers, Ricky came to know the Lord. In the days preceding his death, with bouts of extreme pain, he was heard calling on the name of the Lord to help, save and forgive him. Ricky’s prayer was answered according to the scripture that says, “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”(Acts 2:21) His children and family are comforted and certain they will see their dad and brother one day soon. Ricky Lee did not like funerals, but he did like seeing his family and friends. To honor Ricky’s memory, an informal memorial time will be held on Saturday, December 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at his daughter’s (Nicole Cobb)home in Ty Ty, GA.
