Alex Mark Diakogiannis

Alex Mark Diakogiannis, 55, of Fitzgerald, peacefully passed on Thursday, June 19th, 2025. He was born on December 12, 1969 in Rochester, New York. He was the son of Nicholas A Diakogiannis and the late Margie & Harold Peek. He moved to Fitzgerald as a young child and called Fitzgerald home from that point on. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball with his buddies with a team they put together and going to different tournaments throughout the area. He had a true gift of a salesman, with the ability to sale anything to anyone, and used that talent as a salesman for Michael Chevrolet in Fitzgerald for many years. In addition to salesman, he was also a manager of an automotive store, a preacher at Taft Lane Baptist Church, and honorably served his country in the Navy…. He was truly one of a kind. He was a man of faith and a walking testimony, always ready to share how God had worked in his life with anyone who would listen. He enjoyed reading the Bible with his wife, Rhonda, every night. At one point, he was in a singing church group “Doers of the Word”- where he would sing and play the spoons. He always enjoyed good music, especially the song “Lean on Me”- if the song came on the radio, he would be sure to turn it up and sing as loud as possible. He was a man of jokes, loved to make people laugh and feel good, and he was a helper- he had a true servants heart, even starting an outreach program for those in need (supplying food, water, helping pay bills). He was a minimalist who always made sure those around him were taken care of. If he called you and you did not answer, he would be sure to call you again until you answered. He loved to keep in contact with his family and friends, especially his brother and best friend Johnny, who he talked to everyday. He loved big- especially his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and PawPaw, and he will be missed more than words. Survivors include his wife of 32 years- Rhonda Diakogiannis, children- Deanna Diakogiannis, Macie & Ryan Smith, Alex (AJ) & Christina Diakogiannis, grandchildren- William (Jace) Sercer, Kay’cee Sercer, Neveah Smith, Rory Moore, Kaiden Smith, brother and sister in law- John Q (Johnny) & Danette Diakogiannis, nephews- Dean Diakogiannis, Austin Diakogiannis, and Chad Diakogiannis. In addition to his parents, Alex was preceded in death by his grandparents- Bill & Maggie Lee McDonald. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
